Communities In Schools Gets Results
A third-party national evaluation found that when the CIS Model is fully implemented students attending a CIS school do better in Math and English than students in a non CIS school. The same study found that CIS schools have a lower dropout rate than non CIS schools.In Virginia during the 2006-2007 school year:
- 78% of students tracked for behavior problems improved
- 89% of students tracked for poor academics improved
- 97% of all CIS students were promoted to the next grade
- 78% of students tracked for poor attendance improved
- 89% of students tracked for behavior problems improved
- 80% of students tracked for poor academics improved
- 82% of all CIS students were promoted to the next grade
- 97% of all CIS students remained in school
