This week, Communities In Schools led a landmark Congressional Briefing, “The CIS Effect: How Integrated Student Supports Create Economic Opportunity in America,” reframing student support as essential economic infrastructure. Dr. Benjamin Goldman of Cornell University presented research to congressional staff for the first time, demonstrating how these supports drive long-term mobility. The event, which included insights from CIS Founder Bill Milliken, Congresswoman Susie Lee, and National CEO Rey Saldaña, served as the centerpiece of our federal advocacy. We are especially proud of the network leaders advocating on the Hill, including Virginia’s own Chase Stewart from CIS of Appalachian Highlands and Sarad Davenport from the state office, who helped make the case for transformative investment in student success.
