In addition to words of support from former Governor George Allen, founding co-chair of CIS-VA and the Honorable Delores McQuinn, Secretary of Education Aimee Rogstad Guidera presented a proclamation on behalf of Governor Glenn Youngkin. The proclamation declared September 2023 as Student Support Professionals Appreciation Month and recognized the tremendous contribution of student support professionals in positively impacting attendance, course performance, social and emotional competence, behavior, and empower students to envision and plan for their futures.
Communities In Schools founder, Bill Milliken, and current CEO and President, Rey Saldaña, were also on hand to celebrate the milestone and impact of CIS in Virginia. The 25th Anniversary celebration was presented by Dominion Energy.
